Marissa has a life-long work history dedicated to the betterment of society and culture. Currently, in addition to her Green Leaders Global work, she is co-founder of Green Spaces and serves as its Chief Marketing Officer. Previously, Marissa worked for Felissimo Universal Corporation of America and did Partnership Development for DESIGN 21, focusing on socially responsible initiatives and building its membership to 350 organizations globally. Marissa also worked for General Electric, publicizing its community initiatives worldwide during her time at the GE Foundation and GE Aircraft Engines, and also has a track record of getting successful startups off the ground, including New York City’s first Green Business Competition, Japan Brand and JapanC.


Having grown up in suburban towns of Massachusetts, Marissa was raised with a deep respect for the earth’s beauty in her own backyard. When she moved to New York in 2003, she began to revisit her rural roots as she did not have much nature outside her door. Therefore, she has sought out to revive her love for the environment by developing initiatives and projects that forward the green movement. In addition, doing good was always part of her upbringing asher mother was a social worker and her great grandparents worked in politics.


Marissa has degrees in public relations, marketing, and Spanish from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and also studied at City University of Hong Kong and Instituto Internacional de Madrid. Through her commitment to cultural initiatives, Marissa also worked in journalism as Managing Editor of Focus Magazine and The Distinguished Tourist Magazine. She has also worked in publishing for Random House, The Princeton Review and Jon Wiley & Sons. During her free time, Marissa dedicates herself to causes and the arts. She is on Fashion Delivers‘ Associate Board, an active member of the Business Council for Peace and performs on off-Broadway and TV as an actress and commercial talent.





Jennie Nevin is also the Founder of Green Spaces, a collaborative work space to launch green entrepreneurs. Green Spaces has grown to include nearly 30 organizations. She is also Founder of Green Spaces’ Innovation Institute, a non-profit institute fostering green jobs and education for start-ups, and was intrumental in putting New York City’s first Green Business Competition into action by putting a team in place and supporting it with the Green Spaces network. Previously Jennie had started her career at Merrill Lynch in their Private Banking and Investment Group.


Jennie is a Founding Member of New York City Wildflower week which celebrates nature and all things native in New York. She is also co-chair of the Hudson River Peers.


A native of Minneapolis, Jennie graduation from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a BBA in Finance and received her MBA from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis.
